Is social media a successful part of your marketing plan? Are you spending time on the right platforms?
The simple answer is you won't know unless you carry out regular audits of your accounts. The summer months often prove to be a good time to do this as you can take the time needed to review and plan for the rest of the year.
When we audit clients social media accounts we are looking at a number of factors such as:
1: Audience - is it growing over time, is it the right audience for the business. Most of the social media platforms offer analytical data to give you an idea of where you are at each month - are you using it?
2: Engagement - which accounts are getting the most engagement such as likes, shares, comments. What posts generate the most enagement - can you do more of these.
3: Posting frequency and times - are you making the most of the timing of your posts to allow you reach your target audience. Do you need to increase / decrease frequency?
4: Branding - is your account on brand with your other marketing activity - are you using social media as a part of the marketing plan or is it a stand alone tool with a different voice
5: Images - are you using engaging images, are your images on brand etc. There are so many free graphics packages now to allow you to create social media images - are they being used? What is the quality of your images - are they clear, correctly sized and relevant.
Social Media moves at an ever growing pace and you need to be monitoring your activity. The needs of the business will also change during the year and you need to ensure your social media strategy changes and adapts too.
With social media being a free tool to promote the business, sometimes it can get overlooked when goals and strategy are set. Keep in mind that it might be free to use but there is still a time element cost that you need to factor into working out the success. Also if you pay for advertising on social media, you need to ensure you are spending money in the right places.
